About Workplace Aware and Its Founder, Ali Clements

Workplace Aware was founded by psychologist Ali Clements, whose work with individuals and organisations revealed the deep impact that suicide and sudden loss can have on people at work. She saw how uncertainty, silence, and lack of preparation often left teams struggling to respond and support one another.

Drawing on her background in psychology, journalism, and research, Ali developed Workplace Aware to bridge that gap — creating practical, evidence-based programs that help workplaces respond with clarity, compassion, and confidence.

Workplace Aware was founded to fill a vital gap in how workplaces respond to suicide and sudden loss.

Created by psychologist Ali Clements, the program brings evidence-based care and practical guidance to help people and organisations navigate these moments with compassion and confidence.

Our mission is to strengthen workplaces by providing the knowledge, tools, and support needed to respond effectively to suicide and sudden loss. We aim to reduce harm and foster recovery through practical, evidence-based guidance that empowers people at every level to act with confidence and care during difficult times.

Our vision is a future where every workplace is equipped to respond to crisis with clarity, compassion, and preparedness. We believe that by building understanding and systems of support, workplaces can not only recover from loss but also grow stronger, more connected, and more resilient in the face of challenge.

Meet Ali Clements — Psychologist, Researcher, and Founder of Workplace Aware

Our Founder

Ali Clements is a certified psychologist and the facilitator of the Workplace Aware program — an evidence-based initiative that helps organisations respond to suicide, sudden death, and workplace trauma with care and confidence.

With a Master’s in Psychology and a professional background spanning journalism, politics, and psychology, Ali brings both depth and breadth to her practice — combining analytical clarity with genuine compassion.

Ali’s path to founding Workplace Aware began with a simple but confronting realisation: in the aftermath of suicide or sudden loss, even the most caring workplaces often feel lost. People want to help, but don’t know how. Leaders feel responsible, but ill-equipped.

I saw good people doing their best in impossible circumstances,” she reflects. “I wanted to give them something solid — a framework that turns care into action, so people aren’t left carrying this alone.”

Through Workplace Aware, Ali now partners with organisations across Australia to strengthen their capacity for suicide prevention, postvention, and recovery.

Her work helps managers and staff provide structured support after sudden death, reduce psychosocial hazards, and create psychologically safe environments where healing can occur. Her approach is strengths-based, focused on awareness, resilience, and growth for both individuals and teams.

As an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia’s School of Allied Health, Ali continues to bridge academic research with practical workplace application. Her post-graduate research laid the foundation for the Workplace Aware program, which equips workplaces with evidence-based tools and protocols to navigate crisis, loss, and recovery.

Drawing on her studies in family systems theory and trauma recovery, Ali’s work reflects a deep belief that workplaces can become places of healing — where human connection and professional purpose coexist. Her goal is simple: to make it easier for people to help each other when it matters most.
